Prologue

Friday, the last week in April

The April rain drizzled down on Ian Sullivan as he stood over the caskets of his father and brother. They were killed in a car accident on their way home near an intersection by the Queens-Midtown tunnel. Ian didn’t think their deaths were an accident. His brother, William Thomas Sullivan, Junior, owed over a hundred grand in gambling debts to Salvatore Ferrara, a loan shark connected with the local mob. Sal and his minions roughed Billy up once or twice, but the last time they told him to either pay up or else. Billy was frightened and told Ian that he was going to ask their dad for the money. Ian could have told him how fruitless an endeavor that would be.

William Senior had refused and reported the transaction to the police. Their dad was with Billy when the accident occurred. The police labeled the accident as suspicious.

Worse, the mob still wanted their money even though his brother was dead. Sal showed up on Wednesday night at the wake. “You, kid, your brother owed me a hundred grand. Somebody needs to pay up, so I’ll be collecting from you.” Sal stared him down.

“I don’t owe you any money. Billy did, and now he’s dead.”

Sal shoved Ian against the wall. The funeral home was empty. Ian was the only family member left, so no help was forthcoming.

Ian was scared. “I don’t have any money. The house, the accounts, the business, it’s all caught up in probate.” Ian’s voice was thin, reedy.

“You must have some money, kid. You live at home, you work and have no expenses, I checked. You’re going to get the house and the business, take a mortgage, the interest on your deadbeat brother’s loan is accruing as I stand here admiring your pretty face. I want to be paid.” Not letting go, he squeezed Ian’s arm until Ian knew he was going to bruise badly. Then he went for Ian’s crotch. Ian rotated his hips out of the way of Sal’s hand.

“Billy owed you money. You say I have to pay Billy’s debt. I’ll try, but I don’t owe you that.”

“We’ll see.” Sal leered.

“Please, I told you, everything is in the courts. It will be two months before I see a dime. I don’t have any money. What I had, I spent on the funeral.” Ian started to shake.

Sal stepped back. Ian’s legs were rubbery. He almost fell to his knees.

“I tell you what, kid, I feel sorry for you. You come up with five grand by next Friday as a gesture of good faith.  I’ll wait for the rest until the house sells, but the chip keeps growing, so it better sell fast, or I’ll be taking it out in trade.” Sal put his hand around Ian’s neck and put some pressure on his larynx.

“I’ll be here on Friday, and you already know what will happen if I’m disappointed. I’ll take you instead of the money.”

Ian nodded his head like an automaton. “Friday, I’ll give it to you on Friday.” Sal left with his goons, and Ian sat down trembling with fear.

Ian was a house painter, just like his brother and father. All of their outstanding jobs were completed, and there was only one customer left that needed an estimate. Ian prayed he would get the job, or he would face Ferrara’s goons or worse, Ferrara himself. He didn’t know if he’d make it out alive because he refused to have sex with a man like Sal Ferrara.

Since he was only twenty-one and not his father’s favorite son, his salary from the business was a pittance. His father said he didn’t need more because he lived at home. Now, he was alone with no work scheduled in the coming weeks except the estimate he had to write up tomorrow. He tried to get money yesterday afternoon and was told by the bank that he couldn’t access the bank accounts even for the funerals, so that came out of his pocket.

Ian knew the job that needed the estimate required the type of custom work that very few painters could do. His ability was the reason his father kept him on the payroll after finding out Ian was gay. He was the only one who could work with frescos and faux finishes. He was Sullivan and Sons resident artist, and his artistry was the only reason they got upscale work. However, you would never have known that had you listened to his father complain about his youngest son.

“My son, the faggot,” was how his father referred to Ian. He hadn’t used Ian’s name once since he found out the truth. Billy was a gambler, a drunk, and sometime addict, but he was the good son. Now, because of Billy’s excesses, Ian had to sell the family home and rape the business to find enough money to pay his brother’s debts if he wanted to stay healthy and out of Sal’s clutches.

His father’s will left everything to Billy. Fortunately, he made no provision for the circumstance of Billy’s death. Despite his many flaws, Billy still loved his brother, and his will left everything to Ian. That, however, left everything in probate, and Sal still wanted his money.

He needed the new job, and he was going to have to do all the work himself because he couldn’t afford to pay a helper and still pay off Billy’s debts. He also needed the money to live on for two months and pay the loan shark. He wondered how he was going to eat.

As he threw dirt on both lowered caskets, inwardly, he cursed his brother for his stupidity and himself for not leaving his father’s business and striking out on his own three years ago when he first came out. If he didn’t get the job tomorrow, they would be digging his grave next because he wouldn’t become Sal’s boy toy.

Chapter One

Saturday, Last Week of April, Early Morning

Ian pulled up into the alley behind the address his father left. The house was huge. Ian surveyed the five stories plus a walk out basement. He desperately needed this job, and he didn’t think he had the chance of a snowball in hell once they found out there was only one painter instead of three.

His father paid him a pittance for the work Ian did for him. Most of the jobs the painting contractor bid on, they received because of Ian’s skills doing textured walls and custom paint. Ian wasn’t a martyr, however, and had been secretly collecting reference letters from customers who saw how hard he worked and watched his father treat him like shit on his shoes.

He had almost enough money to move out and had put out resumes to find other work before they both died, and now he was sucked into taking care of their affairs. Billy’s stupidity left him with no leeway. He had to get this job.

Gazing up again at the house, Ian sighed. Working by himself, the job would take him twelve to sixteen weeks if the house was empty and he could work twelve hour days, six days a week. And that was only if they wanted plain paint. If they wanted textures or faux finishes, it could take longer. He hoped like hell they didn’t want anything special and weren’t in a hurry, or he would surely lose the bid and maybe his ability to work if Sal Ferrara’s goons got him.

* * *

Rémy Clavier, the new second in command to the North American Council of Werewolves, sat in his new minimally furnished mid-Victorian townhouse on Columbia Heights in Brooklyn waiting for the painter. He bought the house when his friend the Chief Alpha of the council for all of the North American werewolves, Armand La Marche, requested that he take the position of COO of Garou Industries to replace the disgraced La Farge who was probably painting outhouses in Siberia at the tender mercies of the Russian council. So now Rémy, instead of commuting to council meetings from his pack lands in the Catskills for one week a quarter, had to be in New York City at the Garou corporate headquarters two weeks out of every month necessitating a city home.

When Armand first asked him to take the position, he told him, “Please, Alpha, I don’t want it.”

“That’s exactly why I want you to take it, my friend,” Armand said. “You’re not power hungry and will do the best job you can for our people rather than line your pockets and favor your own pack over the others.” Since Armand was one of his dearest friends, he acquiesced.

Armand had found his true mate, Sean, an Omega with the gift of the Voice. Sean and Armand were visiting all of the North American packs where Sean helped the bitches with childbirth because weres had difficult pregnancies and many stillborn pups. Sean’s gift eased the problems the bitches experienced with pregnancy and the birth. The Voice was the reason for most of the live births in the North American packs and the pups, once born, thrived.

Sean was a gifted potter, and he planned to study Native American pottery on their trip from pack to pack so Armand was basically on a yearlong honeymoon and when he returned, since he had a mate, he wouldn’t want to put in all the hours he used to work leaving Rémy to pick up the slack.

Rémy wished he was touring with them instead of staying in the Catskills and Brooklyn. He longed to find his true mate, and he thought touring the packs was the best way to find him.

“You can find your mate at anytime, anywhere,” Armand assured him.

Rémy raised his eyebrow at him dubiously. Armand laughed. “I found Sean on the street running away from a murderous Russian were.”

So far, Rémy hadn’t found his mate on pack lands in the Catskills or in the city. So here he sat, waiting for the painting contractor to give him an estimate to paint the walls of his seventy-eight hundred square foot home when he desperately wanted to be elsewhere.

The house overlooked Manhattan Harbor and was everything you could want in a house, but that was small compensation for Rémy, to give up his hunt for a mate for a five-story townhouse.

The real estate agent told him, “The kind of home you want is rare in the five boroughs and almost impossible to find in Manhattan.”

Rémy persisted. He needed a lot of bedrooms because unless he could buy houses nearby, his Betas would stay in the house with him along with Luc, his factotum, and his wife, Marie Claire who acted as his housekeeper. Luc and Marie Claire would need separate quarters with a sitting room and a full bath. His Betas had to have large bedrooms with a bath attached plus room for a television, an easy chair, and a king sized bed. Wolves were generally not small.

He wanted to be in Manhattan, but when the realtor showed him the house in Brooklyn, he fell in love on sight. If he had to stay in the city, he wanted it to be here. The house was beautiful, with seven bedrooms and eight full and three half baths. There were separate quarters for Marie Claire and Luc and rooms far enough away from his suite for the Betas to live their own lives. The house had a media room and wine cellar in the basement and there was a view of the bay and the Manhattan skyline from two terraces. After he closed on the house, Rémy found out that the rundown house next door was for sale, he bought it for his Enforcers. There were other smaller houses in the neighborhood for sale with four bedrooms each that he was in the process of purchasing so his Betas would eventually have their own homes and the excess bedrooms in his house could be used for visiting pack members or Alphas on the council.

Right now, he was staying in Alpha La Marche’s home in the Village, and he couldn’t wait to move out into his own space. The pack’s house in the Catskills, bought by his predecessor when he moved his headquarters to the Catskills from Quebec, didn’t feel like it was his although he’d lived there for sixty years.

The former Alpha took the main house as his own, modernized on the cheap, and added on to the guest cabins, so that most of the new pack that moved with the Alpha could stay together. He retired to Quebec at the age of four hundred and fifty, and Rémy, as the only Alpha in Training in his territory, took over the pack at a very young age.

As a wolf, he was young to be the Alpha of a region. Rémy was only seventy, but he was well trained for this job by the Chief Alpha himself. It was a tribute to Rémy’s acumen that he was asked to serve on the council as Alpha not only for his pack but also for the Northeastern Canadian and American packs at such young an age. He would have been content to stay as Alpha of the Catskill wolf pack and within his own territory, but destiny and the gods had other ideas. There was no one else to sit on the council and be in charge of the packs. Rémy was it.

Rémy sat in the kitchen. He heard Roland go to the front door only to find the painter had gone to the rear. The painter is here. He seems too young to be able to do such a large job. He’s at the kitchen door. He parked in the alley. Roland told him through the Alpha link.

I’ll answer the door and let him into the kitchen. Young or not, the company comes highly recommended.

Rémy opened the back door and stood by the stairs. Ian Sullivan stuck out his hand to shake Rémy’s. Rémy smelled green apples and cinnamon. They’re fingertips touched and Rémy’s inner wolf said, Mate—Mine.

I’ll See You at GayRomLIt in San Diego

2015-featuredauthor (1)I had the opportunity to go to GRL this year in San Diego. I hadn’t expected to get to go because I was on the waiting list, but I’m in! I’m looking forward to meeting the fans and seeing my fellow authors. Of course,  I can’t wait to tell everyone about my three m/m series: The Sunset Club and Werewolves of Manhattan from MLR Press, and New Mexico Stories, new with Decadent Publishing.

I’m honored to be a gay romance author and have found my niche in life writing these books. I’ve tried to put my heart into every book I write, and I am so happy that they have been well received. So, San Diego, here I come. I know I’ll enjoy making new friends and seeing old ones.

Another great start to a series by this Author. There was some crossover with characters from the Indiscreet series. In this story Zach and Jason are perfect for each other. Jason is young, but the sole provider for his baby sister. He meets Zach at the club his friends take him to for his birthday. Zach doesn’t do relationships but something about Jason pulls at him and they become friends, which then turns to love. Well written storyline, characters we will come to love…I really enjoy this Author’s writing style.

You in My Arms

Fb_YouInMy-ArmsYou in My Arms will be available on Friday, March 20 from MLR Press at mlrpress.com and shortly thereafter at Amazon and AllRomance.

This is a story about a man struggling to meet obligations thrust upon him by life through no fault of his own. Jason Monroe fights valiantly to try to keep him and his sister, Kitty afloat in an older home with maintenance issues such as the perpetually leaking roof.

He tries to do his best for his sister Kitty, but Kitty has some psychological damage not caused by his father and stepmother’s death as Jason thinks. His friends from the 2010 Ocean Township Champion Soccer Team take him out for his birthday to the most popular gay bar at the Jersey Shore, The Sunset Club. However all Jason seems to be able to do is worry about the money he’s missing by not working at his weekend job, The Ocean View, a college bar in Belmar, and his rather dismal life.

His friend, the ever practical, Bobby Michaels has different goals for Jason this evening. He wants to get Jason thoroughly drunk and then laid. He’s picked out a candidate sitting at the end of the bar, Zach Montgomery who just happens to own half of the club. Bobby tries to set Jason up with Zach and Zach approaches Jason with an unbelievable line, “Want to fuck.” The fur flies and the fireworks explode from there and Zach Montgomery, an admitted man-whore, finds himself thoroughly involved with Jason, (a virgin, shock, shock) and his four year old sister.

Will Jason give it up to Zach or will Zach find his heart and take Jason and Kitty inside. Zach has a solution, an adorable kitten who Kitty names Eloise, and he uses Eloise to storm Jason’s citadel. Will Jason subcumb without love or is it Zach who gives way. Read You in My Arms and find out.

Five Star Reviews for The Sarrans Return

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it February 9, 2015
Format:Kindle Edition
I love this series! The Sarran’s Return is the third book so if you are new to the series start at the beginning, The Sarron Plague, than Living with Syn. The Sarran’s are an alien race that have triad relationships. Two bonded male warriors and a fem, or female. There is mm and mmf sex.
I have been looking forward to Dr Mark Stern’s, now Prince Mark of the Earth Clan, story. He’s been my favorite character since the first book. How can you not love a man who chose to go with the Sarran’s in an effort to insure that the 4,500 women taken would be safe. That the Sarran’s were who they presented themselves to be. That is just wow! I was not disappoint. Mark and Juraneus are a great pairing, they are so a like, but, uniquely different that I easily fell in love with Juraneus as well. I liked their fem Sara. She went through a lot, but was not broken by it, and was open to all Mark and Juraneus had to offer her, and her young son Michael. Of course the cats. Loved the big cat rescue. So a great addition to the series.
Now I am wondering were the series goes from here. I hope there will be more. There is Mattie, who I felt more pity for than dislike, It had been hinted that she will fall into the hands of the Ipz. There is Sara’s father, former Senator Sam Johnson, who has chosen to become a Sarran. Embracing the Codex and ready to find his bonded and fem. Than there is Neffie and Michael, and the generation of Sarran-Earth children that will have stories to tell.

Second Excerpt from The Sarrans Return

A four year old boy lay in his bed. There was shouting in the other room. Chou, the Siamese cat that Grandpa gave Mommie, came in to sit with him. He always did when his father started to shout. Michael hoped he wouldn’t make her cry tonight. The last time he made her cry they had to go to the hospital.

She was gone for a week and while she was gone father yelled and hit him. Finally, he couldn’t take it anymore. He climbed out of bed. Chou pulled on the back of his pants trying to keep him in his room but he couldn’t let Mommie scream. Michael knew she was hurt. He went to his door and pulled on the lever.

His door opened and there was his father with the heavy baseball bat he used to play in to park with his friends on Sundays. He was dragging Mommie by her hair down the hall to their bedroom and her face was bloody.

Michael ran out of his room and started to beat his father with his little fists. All he succeeded in doing was making him angrier.

“Go away, Michael,” his mother rasped. But Michael wouldn’t go away. His Mommie quickly pulled him underneath her and his father raised the bat. It hit his side and he hurt really bad, so bad that he screamed in his head.

Tuesday 22:00 tines

Mark sat up shaking and shouting in the middle of sleeptine. He looked at the clock and it was twenty-two tines. He shook Juraens shoulder who shouted a moment later. “He’s torturing our fem. We need to go. She’s badly beaten, she may not make it. Call the PsyOps troopers. We’re going to need help.”

Mark and Juraens followed their fems screams and transported themselves into a hallway leading into a slumber chamber. Their fem was on the floor protecting her offspring from a huge angry man wielding a baseball bat. A cat was bravely trying to fight him off and get him away from the two of them.

The PsyOps troops were right behind them. Mark looked down, the Siamese cat moved and stood protectively over a very young offspring. The PsyOps troops held the husband at bay. “Take him to the brig and call Dukes Saxon and Lunas to notify the Earthen authorities. Tell him to ask for Morgan. This is his number.”

With a thought, Mark and Juraens transported their fem, the offspring, and their cat up to sickbay.

The doctor met them and gently took their fem from Juraens’ arms. The offspring cried pitifully, holding on to Mark for dear life. “Daddy hurt Mommie bad this time. I hate him. I want him to go away. He hurt me and Chou too.” Mark tried to comfort the little one while at the same time tried to see through Juraens’ mind what went on in the bed above him. The Sarran physician was going to do microscopic surgery and put their fem into a healing chamber.

Mark stood still holding the offspring. The Sarran doctor worked feverishly in the bed above him. He knelt down, his legs rubbery and began to examine the offspring. He was badly bruised and crying.

Mark gave a mental shout to bring another doctor to his side. He would care for the offspring so Juraens could concentrate on their fem. ::It’s bad Juraens, her hold on life is fragile.::

The cat, forgotten in all the commotion rubbed up against Mark’s sleep pants. ::I am Chou. I will stay with the little one and the doctor while you see to my person.::

There was a bleak note in his mind voice. ::I bit and scratched him. I tried to protect her. He was supposed to be gone all week. He came home and found me sleeping in his bed and because of that he tried to kill her. I did this to my person. I tried to keep Michael away from him. I failed.:: The cat’s mind voice was raw, as if he knew how bad his person was hurt

::Chou, you did nothing but try to protect your person. With that bat, even you, brave warrior that you are, could not prevail.::

::I will stay with Michael. Go to your lover and my person. Help him heal her. Without you, she has no chance.::

::I won’t leave the little one until the doctor comes.:: Another doctor transported into the room. Mark stood and went over to the bed, leaving Chou to cuddle with Michael on the floor while the doctor tried to coax him into bed next to his Zenna’s.

::Doctor, he needs the translation chip before he can understand you. Give a chip to our fem too as soon as she can tolerate it.:: Mark heard a Warrior lift Michael up and settle him in a bed placed next to his Mommie’s. There was a snick and then Michael began to babble to the doctor. Chou jumped up to lay by Michael when Mark noticed he was limping. “Someone examine the feline, he’s been hurt defending our fem.”

Three Warrior Medical Techs came running. Mark went to look at Chou and make sure the offspring was settled. Chou had only suffered a sprain. The techs took over seeing to Chou and brave little Michael. The little one was examined and sedated, but he didn’t sleep. “I need to stay with Mommie in her head or she’ll leave. I won’t make a sound.” The boy spoke to Chou in a quiet voice. Mark ran back over to the other bed where Juraens stood watching the doctor work on their fem. “There is a lot of damage, Prince Mark, I won’t lie to you about that. But it can be fixed. Give me the night. How did you know?” the doctor asked as he set the broken bones.

“The offspring, he called for help.” Mark looked over at Michael sitting with Chou. The cat was rubbing against his face and licking his cheeks.

“Wait,” Mark said, knowing how the courts worked on Earth. “Take a holo and make a record of all of her injuries and the boys injuries, old and new. We’re going to need it.”

Tears poured out of his and Juraens’ eyes. They couldn’t even hold her hand. All of her fingers were broken. The bruising on her face was terrible to behold and it went all the way down her left side. Mark could see the outline of the bat on the pale skin. Mark heard a shout from the other bed. The doctor was furious. “The little one has bruises too. ”

Mark answered, “I probed him, none are life threatening. He needs some arnica cream, a pain killer, and comfort. Document the injuries, and then treat him.” Mark dug into the pocket of his robe and found a tiny Milky Way. He handed it to Juraens. ::Take this to our new offspring, Beloved. He’s hurt and scared. Ask the techs to find some tuna for Chou. He hurt him too.:: Juraens aura was blood red with anger.

An Excerpt from the Sarrans Return

Monday Dawntine

The communiqué arrived at the moment the Brightstar entered Earth orbit. The Security Council would meet with the Sarran Trade Delegation in secret at ten.

The room was dimly lit. The walls and the bed linens were all various shades of green and gold. An opaque green sheet with a gold satin border laid carelessly half over Mark and half over the bed.

“Why the deception? The Earthen people already know about us.” Dr. Mark Stern, now known as Prince Mark of EarthClan, sprawled in the huge hexagonal bed. Mark’s head lay in his Bonded’s lap. He shifted in the bed, unable to get comfortable. Thoughts of Earth and the life he led before he became a Sarran did that to him.

Juraens twisted his fingers around a blonde curl.

“They said that the public shouldn’t be informed about possible trade until the agreement is hammered out but I think there is something more.” Mark opened his eyes. “Morgan wants to see me before the meeting, at nine. The United States wants to gain an edge in treaty negotiations and if I know Morgan, he plans on using me to give him that edge. I’m also certain he wants me to spy for him on Sarran. I will not become a covert operative for that man, no matter what he threatens.”

Juraens’ black eyes shot fire. “You are Sarran now. He has no right.”

“That doesn’t mean he won’t try.” Mark’s nostrils flared. The fact that he asked for a private meeting tells me all I need to know.” Mark exhaled slowly. “I don’t want to see him alone. I am no longer of Earth. I am Sarran. Things could get ugly fast.” Juraens continued to run his fingers through Mark’s hair. Mark’s fists clenched, tangling the gossamer sheets.

“You still see Morgan through the eyes of a frightened child. He can do no longer do anything to hurt you.” Juraens kissed the top of his head. “As for you going alone, that was never going to happen, Treasured. I’ll go with you as is my right as your Bonded. You are very agitated this morning. Do you need the flogger?” Juraens took Mark’s hand and kissed his palm and fingers.

“No, I haven’t needed the flogger since we completed our Bond on Sarran. I need you. I need to taste you and feel you. I wish you could push inside of me. I long for that ultimate completion.”

Mark ran his hand up and down the satin half robe that lay open, partially covering the upper portion of Juraens’ body. The coal black fuzz on his Beloved’s legs tickled his nose. He moved his head up to Juraens’ chest and ran his fingers through the springy black hairs that formed a perfect tee over his pecs, down his sternum, to his cock.

A warm blanket slipped over Mark’s consciousness as Juraens’ bathed him in his love. “Forget Morgan. He is less than nothing and holds no sway over you.” Juraens waved his hand in the air in dismissal.

“You belong to Sarran now. I know this in my heart and soul.” Juraens held on to Mark, continuing to soothe with his hands and lips.

“Soon we will have our fem and experience all of the aspects of Triad. I hear her soft whispers. She will be ours and then all three of us can be together as you wish. I know it’s hard for you to wait, Treasured. You did not grow up with Sarran law or customs.”

“No harder than it is for you.” In a mercurial change of mood, Mark smiled at his Bonded and slid off Juraens’ lap, pulling him down into his arms. Mark moved his lower body out from under the sheet and opened Juraens robe, slipping it off his broad shoulders. Mark turned and considered his BondMate with a sparkle in his blue eyes. ::It’s only 5:00 tines. We have four tines until the meeting with that bastard. I suggest we not waste a mot::

Juraens grabbed Mark’s face in his hands and ran his tongue along the seam of Mark’s mouth. ::I will make love to you and you will lose this sadness that has beset you since we arrived. What troubles you so?::

::I see Sarran and see the beauty of the Codex and I wonder if Earth can ever evolve to the point Sarran has already reached. When I deal with Morgan I feel dirty. These were my people and now all I see is greed and senseless power grabs.::

::Remember the Council Elders who turned their back on the Codex. We have the greedy and the power hungry on Sarran. We are not without fault and Morgan did give you to me.:: Juraens kissed Marks lips face and shoulders.

::No, it wasn’t Morgan, we found each other and because of that I found the Codex. Sarran seems much cleaner to me than Earth. There is honor on Sarran:: Mark’s love for his bonded shone through his eyes.

::There was honor on Earth. Here is where I found you. I will be forever grateful to Earth and even to Morgan for that. Let me distract you from you melancholy and put the smile back on your face, Treasured. I love your crooked smile.::

Another five star review for Jake’s Thief on All Romance:

Great story. Love the sub club. Not really ready to say goodby to these characters.

Excerpt from Jake’s Thief

Wednesday Evening, Last Week of September

Jake Cohen bundled up against the brisk autumn wind. It was his favorite time of the year. Too bad he had no one to share it with. All of his friends, one by one, had found their sub and Jake, although he looked at every new crop, hadn’t. He decided to do the unthinkable—he was going to ask the sub club for help.

He didn’t look forward to the flack he was going to catch from his friends, but damn it, he was lonely and they all had a sub of their own, except him. With the changes he was contemplating for his life, now was the time to find someone. The sub club had performed miracles with the other recalcitrant Doms; he should be easy. He actually wanted a sub to love and their help to find him.

Earlier that day he called Reed and asked him if he could speak to Jim. Naturally, Reed wanted to know why.

“What earthly reason do you need to speak to my Jim outside of the club?” Reed’s question left him stammering.

“I want Jim and the sub club’s help to find me a sub I can love,” Jake told Reed in a mumbled undertone, hoping Reed didn’t quite hear him.

“You mean you actually want them to meddle in your affairs,” Reed said, appalled. “You don’t need their dubious brand of interference, trust me on this. And worse, if you fuck up, we’ll be the ones that pay the price.”

“I think I do, want them to meddle that is. Please, be a friend. Let me ask Jim and the rest of them to give it a shot. I can’t be any worse off than I was before. After all it was all of you assholes, with the notable exception of Bear, that gave your subs such hard times before commitment. The sub club’s interference had nothing to do with your troubles. I don’t want to give anyone a hard time, I want to commit. I’m sick of being alone.”

“How can you possibly say you’re alone? You have all of us and there are new crops of subs that come into the club every month.” He could hear Reed’s incredulity over the phone.

“I play, you know I play. But I haven’t found someone that I want to come home to at night and I think that maybe I’m missing something or not doing something right. Anyway, their record is good, seven for seven love matches. Maybe a little of the other Doms’ luck will rub off on me.”

“If you do this, the other Doms may not forgive you. The subs will be so smug they’ll be earning strokes for a month.”

“It was okay when I still had Tom but now he’s hitched. I never would have picked a homeless guy for an ex-cop, but the subs worked whatever voodoo they do and it all turned out hearts and flowers, or as much hearts and flowers a Dom/sub arrangement can be. You all love your subs and they adore you. I want that for myself.”

“Okay, buddy, you have my permission to try, but don’t complain when you don’t like the consequences. You’re also going to have to get the other Doms to agree not to give out strokes to their subs for plotting, because this wasn’t the subs’ idea, it’s yours.” Reed chuckled.

As soon as Reed got off the phone he speed dialed Bear. “You won’t believe what Jake is going to do…”

Davey Howell didn’t want to pick pockets for a living. A year ago he’d had a job, a good one. He was a paralegal to Bill Danvers, senior partner at the law offices of Danvers, Blake, & Sampson. When Mr. Danvers went on a year’s sabbatical, the other two partners  transferred their dislike for the senior partner to Davey. He couldn’t do anything right. He’d been at that office for five years, and they fired him, summarily. Now he was twenty-five and in competition with all the paralegals that just graduated from school.

The fact that Davey was fired didn’t look good on his resume and his old boss, Bill Danvers, was gone with his wife for a cruise around the world for a year. He couldn’t get a hold of him for another three months.

His unemployment insurance had run out, he depleted his 401K and he was out of options. His resume was papered across the ‘net, he called every recruiter in New York and no one would hire him without a reference. He went to the jobs counselor at the unemployment office.

“If you can’t get a letter of reference from your old employer, you should write to the partner you worked for. He’ll give you a reference, if what you say is true. I called Danvers, Blake and Sampson about you. They gave out a terrible reference. Until the other partner returns, you’re out of luck.” The jobs counselor looked bored and annoyed. “Come back when you have the letter, maybe then I can do something for you.”

Davey thought, if he’s been smart, he would have gotten that letter the minute Bill announced his sabbatical, but he trusted that the firm would find another lawyer for him to work for. Instead, they got rid of him.

He hired his own lawyer to sue for wrongful termination, but the lawyer he found was a hack and just sent a few letters which probably went directly into the circular file. Then, he ran out of money.

He had no family, he was a foster kid. He had no friends; you didn’t make friends in the foster system. He was completely on his own. Now he was standing in the garage of a fancy office building waiting for someone well-heeled and working late to show up so he could pick his pocket.

An Excerpt from His Omega out from MLR November 7th

HisOmega_432coverHe wasn’t sure he wanted to do this; but it was either sell himself or stay out on the street. Sean was frightened; but too hungry to care and enough of a pragmatist to know what had to be done. He had to talk himself into it. Prostitution, simple, he was going to make himself into a rent boy. Tears dropped from his eyelashes and down his high cheekbones. He never understood before why someone would sell themselves for money. Now he knew, rent himself out or starve; those were his choices. Leroy, one of the boys on Chelsea Pier he knew through a friend at NYU, told him that he could make good money at the trade.

“You’re small, blond with fair skin lacking freckles, dude. Your lips are full, your eyes a brilliant green. You look a lot younger than you are. You could make a fortune in this business, the perfect twink, but I think we need to find you a pimp to be safe.”

“This isn’t a life choice. All I want is money to eat and get a place to sleep until I have enough for a bus ticket to Boston. My friend Tony lives there with his wife. He’ll take me in and I’ll get a chance to make a few bucks at an honest job so I can finish school.”

“I’ll watch out for you until you land on your feet. You can crash with me on the sofa; but I can’t afford to feed you.”

“Thanks, I owe you.” They walked down to the pier together.

A huge man lurked at the edge of the pier looking over each boy as he arrived. He appeared dark and menacing.

“Oh shit, we gotta go hide. Run behind that dumpster in the alley and don’t come out until I come and get you. That Russian is into rough trade. The boys he likes disappear and he goes for twinks. If you want to stay healthy, run.”

“What about you?” Sean looked around in a panic.

“He doesn’t want me, so I’m safe. Now go—trust me.” Sean ran. Leroy didn’t have to tell him twice. He was about to prostitute himself, but he was no fool. He hid behind a large green dumpster on the right side of the alley. He pulled garbage bags and garbage in front of him for cover.

“I saw him, the blond. Where’d he go?” Sean listened as the huge Russian interrogated Leroy. “You talked to him no more than five minutes ago so you must know him.” The Russian grabbed Leroy by the front of tight black T-shirt and shook him. “You told him to leave, you little rat bastard.”

“He asked me for a joint then, disappeared.” The big man slapped Leroy then held his fist out menacingly. “Okay, Okay. I know him from NYU. He’s green. Look, he isn’t in the trade. He has no experience, you wouldn’t want him.”

“I saw him and I want him, tell me where he went, or I’ll beat the shit out of you.”

“He went over there, toward the pier,” Leroy said, turning way from where Sean hid behind the dumpster.

The Russian went into a rage. “What? You think I’m a fool? He slid into that alley.”

“No, no, he went back home. He’s not into this. He’s uh…waiting for someone else, he made an appointment.”

“I thought you said he wasn’t for rent. You’re fucking with me Leroy. I don’t allow anyone to fuck with me.”

Sean heard and watched in horror as the big man pulled a knife and shoved it into Leroy’s gut. Too frightened to call out, he saw Leroy fall to the ground. The man moved away from the alley, down toward the dumpster; for a minute Sean thought he saw the guy’s eyes turned red.

“I know you’re out there,” the man shouted. Sean watched as he waved his knife around in the air. The Russian saw him behind the dumpster and ran toward him catching the edge of his torso with the knife. Sean clutched his side. He ducked and tried to run. The Russian grabbed the sleeve of his sweatshirt. The knife grazed his temple. Sean screamed. He tried to pull Sean up but slipped on a half head of brown lettuce and lost his hold on Sean’s collar. Sean ran toward West Street. The man stopped and sniffed the air. He didn’t follow Sean but turned away from the alley to the loading platforms on the street.

Sean saw him sniff the air again. Sean covered himself in more garbage crouching down behind a second dumpster. He peered out and got a good look at his face. The Russian began checking doors. One of them opened and he disappeared into the building. Sean, holding his side ran over to Leroy. Leroy was gutted. Having no cell phone; he raced down the alley toward West Street looking behind him, expecting the Russian to find him at any minute. He stopped the first car he saw.

Armand La Marche sat in the back seat of his black limousine. He had a long day. Mondays were always difficult. As Chief Alpha of the Loup-garou Council of North America, he traveled to New York City frequently on pack business. On the second Monday of every quarter, they held a full council meeting and it was at this time that they arbitrated disagreements among the packs, settled border disputes and planned events to encourage wolves to find their true mates, but all the bickering made him tired and growly. He looked forward to getting back to his city residence.

His pack holdings were in southwestern United States, Mexico and California. He kept his residence in Northern New Mexico except when he flew to New York on pack business. Armand hoped to be able wrap up council affairs by the end of the week. He sighed, tired from seven days of dealing with the fractious Alphas who reported to the High Council in addition to the new trouble reported by Russian Federation. Armand needed to stand strong to defend the rights of the North American Packs..

“Alpha, there is a bottle of Courvoisier in the bar.”

“Pierre, is it impossible for you to call me Armand?” he asked wearily, having had this conversation one hundred times before. “The French Revolution ended the monarchy. Our branch of the family, being what we are, would not be suited for any throne despite our bloodline. We now have economic power which in this age is all that matters, the title of Alpha is passé and unnecessary.”

He sighed, opened the hinged bar in the back of the limo and indulged himself in the excellent brandy rolling the amber liquid around in his glass. They stopped for a light. He picked up a scent in the air strange for the city…vanilla, fresh linen? He lifted his head to sniff the air again and started to open the window. As the light began to change, a young man ran out of an alley onto West Street and plastered himself to the passenger side door of his limousine knocking frantically on the window. He held on to his side while his head bled profusely down the side of his sweatshirt. The blood transferred to the pane of glass.

“Stop the car,” he shouted to his driver as he fully opened the rear window.

“Please…please call 911, my friend was knifed in the alley.” The boy slumped along the edge of the door grabbing the open window for purchase, then he dropped to his knees. A clap of thunder and a bolt of lightning roiled in the distance the sky opened up with heavy rain.

“Pierre,” Armand shouted to his driver, “Call 911. Check the alley for a body and come back and report to me.”

He opened the door as the boy fell over into the mud. Armand seized him by his shoulders and hoisted him up. The boy swayed on his feet. Armand took hold of the open car door using it to steady himself while he put his arm under the boy’s shoulder so he didn’t fall back down to the sidewalk and the mud. Armand swung the boy to face him and grabbed both arms sitting him in the backseat of the limo.

He knelt down next to the now sitting boy. “You’re bleeding. Let me look.” The boy was covered in dirt and refuse, shivering with shock and cold. Suddenly Armand’s senses fully awoke, assaulted with the smells of vanilla, clean linen, cinnamon, and nutmeg under the stench of the garbage. Armand’s legs grew weak. He slid the young man over on toward the opposite door of the limousine and followed him inside. The part of his brain that was lupine, screamed, “Mate. Mine!”

Another Five Star Review for Binding Robbie!

Here is another five star review for Binding Robbie on Amazon.

Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This excellent book is the 7th in a series by A C Katt called Indiscreet which is the name of a upscale BDSM club in New Jersey. Each book in the series centers on one particular Dom and one Sub who is looking for a D/s relationship and fall in love, sometimes to the extent of getting married. The entire series is five stars. It depicts a BDSM club that caters to the wealthy Doms but requires all Doms and all Subs to go through rigorous training before being admitted (including each Dom being struck with each instrument available at the club to learn what a Sub is feeling when they use them). No Dom who has been drinking is allowed to go to one of the private dungeons to play with a Sub unless at least 5 hours have passed and they have consumed a large meal. In other words, this club is an ideal setting for a group of gay men of either persuasion to meet and become involved with another for a long term relationship and not fear being abused. It really proves that no two Doms are alike, some being into rendering a lot of pain to a willing Sub (sometimes referred to as a pain slut), others who are just looking for a lover who will be submissive but not into much if any pain. Of course the same differences are found in the Subs. Through out the series, as new couples are joined, the Subs gather together and prove that it is really the Subs who control the D/s relationship and the Dom’s also get together to protect their interests. Each book also involves a dangerous situation arising that needs to be dealt with by one or more Doms. In sum, each book has a terrific love story, a fair amount of steamy sexual encounters with different levels of BDSM, and a danger that arises to threaten each couple.
While each book can be read as a stand alone novel, they are most enjoyable if read in sequence since characters from all previous books are in each subsequent ones, often in important roles. To make your finding and purchasing these books easier I am going to list them in order by title and the two principal characters in each book. They are: A Matter of Trust, Bear and Brian, Jack’s Back, Reed and Jim, Cisco’s Boy, Dr. Cisco de Lorea and Dr. Grey Harris, Bull’s Whip, Bull and Jamie, Gary’s Choice, Gary and Danny, Caden’s Dilemma, Caden and Masato, and Binding Robbie, Tom and Robbie.
This series is without a doubt one of the five best M/M erotic romance series (with or without BDSM) that I have had the pleasure of reading. It is an outstanding series and each book in the series is superb. Hopefully, this book 7 is not the last in the series; personally I could read an endless amount of stories coming out of Indiscreet and I think you will feel the same way. If you have not yet read one or more of these wonderful books, don’t hesitate; buy them and be ready for a series of delightful reading.

Five Star Reviews In for Binding Robbie

Binding Robbie has it’s first reviews on Amazon.com. They are both five stars and read as follows:

 5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent series… October 11, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This productive author always manages to please me with her m/m romances. It’s good to give her books a chance even if you don’t think you will like it going by the plot description because you will be surprised and captivated by the story. I can’t even pick a favorite out of the series because I like them all! Robbie, the main character in this book, has been cast out by his evil relatives who have stolen his inheritance, which makes for an excellent plot device as we watch him struggle to achieve normality after more than five years spent as a homeless teenager from the age of fifteen. It was most enjoyable to see all the characters from former books make an appearance, although I was getting a little confused at how many of them there were so you would definitely want to read the other books before this. After reading this one, I went back and read the entire series through again. I wish I could go and have tea and muffins with the sub club. 😉

New Excerpt from Binding Robbie out September 26th

As Caden finished talking to the receptionist, Bear and Brian hurtled through the Emergency Room doors.  Brian grabbed at Gary. “Where’s Danny? Is he okay? What happened?”

“Calm down Brian, Danny’s fine. We found a friend who helped him out while he was on the streets lying outside the old Robeling factory in a cardboard box. I think he has hypothermia and God knows what else, so Danny asked me to help him. We loaded him into the car and brought him straight over here.”

“How did you know we were here?” Gary asked Bear standing next to Brian, who had tears in his eyes.

Bear shrugged. “Brian panicked. He called Danny to talk about where they were having Monday’s tea and Danny said he was at the hospital and would call him back. You can expect the rest of the subs in the next twenty minutes. Brian called everyone. I attempted to point out that we didn’t have any information and that Danny said he’d call him back but since Danny hung up without telling Brian why he was here, Brian got so upset he threatened to drive to the hospital himself, so here we are. Junior is parking the limousine. I told him to come in for coffee.”

Jim and Reed soon came through the door followed by Bull and Jamie. “Where’s Danny? Is he okay?” Jim asked, ready to mother the world.

Gary answered. “Danny’s fine. He found an old friend lying on the street over by DeLorenzo’s. This kid helped him out when he was homeless. We brought him over here. He probably got the stink eye from Cisco about using his cell phone, so he hung up without telling Brian why he was here. I’m sure Danny didn’t expect all of you to show up at the hospital.” Bear gave Brian an assessing look that promised a good spanking for rallying the troops unnecessarily. Brian’s face turned bright red.

“Well,” Jim said, looking pointedly at Bear while seating himself on one of the comfortable chairs Cisco had installed in the waiting area, “you know how it is, all for one and one for all.”

Brian agreed and he, Jamie and Johnny gathered around Jim. “Now that we’re here, what can we do to help?” Jamie asked.

Danny burst out of the treatment area followed by Greg. Danny’s eyes widened when he saw the entire sub club but he recovered enough to tell everyone else what was going on.

Greg looked over the assembled faces and smiled.

“I guess Danny spoke to Brian.”

“Robbie has bacterial pneumonia and hypothermia,” Danny said in one breath.

“Fortunately he didn’t contract tuberculosis,” Greg told them. “Quite a number of the street people do. A few more hours and he would have died out there.”

“How could I have forgotten about Robbie?” Danny started to cry and Gary took him in his arms.

Gary lifted up Danny’s chin. “You couldn’t have known he was sick, baby.”

Caden went to comfort his brother. “It’s not your fault, Squirt. When I came back we looked for him for weeks and couldn’t find him.” Danny’s head came up from Gary’s shoulder. Caden came over to give Danny a hug followed by Johnny who stood behind his Dom. The other subs reinforced what Caden told him.

Excerpt from Binding Robbie out Friday 9/25

BindingRobbie_KJacen               Danny and Gary stepped out of DeLorenzo’s Tomato Pies into two feet of dirty snow that had been pushed to the edge of the sidewalk. Danny’s breath looked like smoke coming from his nose, as his mouth and lungs protested the inhalation of the sub-zero air. The sidewalk was icy, and Gary grabbed at Danny so he wouldn’t slip.
Danny glanced across the street and saw a small figure huddled near a pile of snow against the aged brick façade of the old Roebling building. A cardboard box with a plaid blanket hanging out the end sat next to the snowdrift, elevated from the sidewalk by discarded wooden pallets.
Danny shivered in sympathy. He remembered his two months on the street after his parents threw him out for being gay. He’d been lucky that it was springtime and although chilly at night it had been relatively easy to keep warm. He had a part-time job at McDonald’s and a membership at the Y that had kept him clean and fed while he finished high school. It was two months before his brother Caden had come home from Afghanistan for his graduation, found him on the streets, and got him an apartment and a good job. Just the memory of being homeless and scared gave Danny shivers that didn’t come from the cold.
“Sir, would you mind if I go across the street and give that man money for a room tonight”
“You can’t save the world, baby, but if it makes you feel better, go ahead.” Gary removed his leather gloves and pulled his wallet from the inside pocket of his tailored topcoat. He took out five twenty dollar bills and passed them to Danny.
“I’m going across the street with you. I don’t want you in danger.”
“Thank you, Sir.” Danny crossed the street quickly, with Gary on his heels.
Danny leaned over the huddled figure and immediately noticed the shock of dark red hair sticking out of the battered knit cap on his head. Danny’s mouth opened in surprise and joy. He leaned over and shook the sleeping figure. “Robbie, wake up, it’s Danny.”
“You know this boy” Gary asked.
The boy was lethargic; he barely stirred when Danny said his name. “Please Sir, we have to help Robbie. I wouldn’t have survived the two months I spent on the street if Robbie hadn’t taken me under his wing.”
“Let me look. Robbie…” Gary knelt and placed his hand on the head of the boy lying on the cardboard box. Danny stood behind him. The boy turned his head to Gary as if in slow motion.
               “Danny?”
Binding Robbie will be available from MLR Books at mlrbooks.com, at Amazon.com and All Romance on Friday, September 25th.

Cover Reveal for Indiscreet Seven, Binding Robbie

BindingRobbie_KJacenThe latest in the Indiscreet saga is Binding Robbie. Binding Robbie tells the story of the sub club and its plans for Tom Martino.

Tom Martino is curious. All of the Doms and their subs are protecting Robbie Bailey, a street kid they found in a Trenton snow drift. It seems that when Danny was on the streets, Robbie looked out for him. When Danny’s brother Caden came to rescue Danny from the streets, they looked for Robbie and couldn’t find him. Now that they have, all of the Doms and their subs are determined to help him for taking care of one of their own. Tom wants to help Robbie too, but for a different reason. After getting to know the young man, Tom is in love and wants him for his boy. But one problem remains, Robbie says he isn’t a sub.

New Excerpt from Caden’s Dilemma, AC Katt

CadensDilemma_432 (1)Danny was very nervous. He knew he was butting into his brother’s life and that Caden wouldn’t exactly be happy about it. He hoped Masato wouldn’t tell.

They decided Danny would answer the door. His eyes almost dropped out of his head when he saw the limousine. “Jim, I think we need another thermos of coffee and some of the scones from yesterday for Masato’s driver.”

“His what…” Danny heard Brian whisper.

“Come in, Masato. Welcome to the sub club.”

“Hello Danny.” Masato came into the dining room and handed Jim the wrapped loaf of banana nut bread. “My housekeeper made this for us,” he said in a matter of fact voice.

He sat down at the table and Brian stared. “Now I remember, I told you guys yesterday I would. Everybody meet Johnny Nguyen, software engineer and the owner of one of the most profitable software and Internet companies on the East Coast.”

“You have me. I’m a member who has an alias. I’m out but I know some Masters would have a problem with my money. I hoped they could get to know the real me before they knew about the company.”

“Do you prefer Johnny or Masato?” Danny asked.

“Masato is my first name after my maternal grandfather. I prefer Johnny, my middle name. I sign everything M. John Nguyen. ” Johnny took off his coat and scarf and hung them on the coat rack.

“Does my brother know about the money yet?” Danny asked.

“No, the only people that know are you guys and Reed. Caden will find out whatever I do in three months. I only have that long to convince him we belong together despite my money. I want him to love me enough that he won’t want to leave me,” Johnny said looking quite sincere.

“He’ll be angry if you hide it. You have to tell him soon or you’ll throw your chance out the window.” Johnny’s eyes started to tear up.

“What do I do?”

Jim promptly took over. “That’s what we’re here for hon, to help. You’ve been around the club long enough to know what it took to get all of us our Masters, even Brian and I didn’t have it easy. It’s something we’ll have to figure out. But you were honest with us right up front and that counts.” Danny nodded his head.

“This is going to be hard. You remember I got Gary terribly angry at me because I didn’t want to take things from him. He had to put me in silence. Caden’s going to be one hundred times worse. We have to figure out an angle.” The sub club began to plot.

“We have to get him to see you, Greg, you’re the shrink. You can point out his pride is foolish,” Danny said while nibbling on a piece of banana bread.

“I can’t steer him in any direction, even if he does come to see me. I can only talk about what he brings up. I’m not skirting ethics yet because he’s not my patient, but once he becomes my patient, I have to bow out of any discussion about Caden.” Greg sipped the new tea. “This is good, who brought it?”

“I did. You won’t be able to come and have tea with us if Caden comes to see you?” Danny said, unhappy that his brother could break up the group. He poured himself a cup of tea and took a rock sugar stick.

“I didn’t say that, I said I couldn’t give an opinion, there is nothing that says I can’t listen to what the rest of you say and right now, he’s not my patient so I can say what I like and I say this, Johnny, Caden is going to have a big problem with you being a billionaire. Cisco has that kind of money. I didn’t find out until I was already living with him. He didn’t even have a housekeeper, just a bi-monthly cleaning service. Now we have help five days a week, but I still do all the cooking. He likes my cooking.” Greg popped a piece of banana bread into his mouth. ”Money wasn’t a problem for me. Cisco doesn’t flaunt it and I still get to work. The only downside is all the charity functions we have to attend for the hospital and other charities Cisco supports. I don’t like dressing up in a tuxedo.”

Johnny gulped. “I can’t cook. The only thing I’m good at is writing software for applications on the phone or the internet. Greg, if I need to know how to cook, I’m going to have to ask my housekeeper to teach me.” Johnny’s eyes looked away as if he were embarrassed.

“Brian does all of Papa Bear’s investment portfolios outside of his real estate holdings.” Jim told Johnny.

“I can’t do that either. I know nothing about investing. They could be robbing me blind and I wouldn’t know about it.” Johnny’s eyes began to tear up again. He wiped them surreptitiously.

“Jamie does the accounting at Indiscreet and Danny is going to school for horticulture.” Jim got around to everyone at the table. “Everyone here has or is getting a college education. Greg is obviously a doctor, Jamie has a Masters in Accounting and Brian one in both Accounting and IT. We all found something we could do with and for our Masters. What we’ve got to figure out is what you can give Caden besides money.”
